How to: Install a serial trackball.
Solution:
Turn off the computer, connect the new trackball to a serial port, and turn on the computer.
NOTE: Install a serial trackball driver if necessary.
1) Shutdown Windows 95, and turn off the computer.
2) Connect the new trackball to a serial port on the back of the computer.
NOTE 1: Serial port connectors are commonly a 9 pin (DB9) or 25 pin (DB25) female adapter. Trackballs use a 9 pin (DB9) connector.
NOTE 2: A trackball can be connected to a 25 pin (DB25) adapter using a 25 pin male to 9 pin female converter.
3) Turn on the computer.
NOTE: Windows 95 may auto-detect and configure the trackball.
4) If the trackball was not auto-detected, install the trackball driver.
NOTE 1: The trackball is an alternative to a mouse as a pointing device, and cannot be used while a mouse is installed on the computer.
NOTE 2: If your computer has a PS/2 port, you may need to disable the PS/2 port before installing the new trackball.
NOTE 3: The trackball installation disk may include a program that will 'test' the trackball installation (typically named test.com). Refer to the trackball installation manual for detailed configuration information.
